Over the years, I've put together a few tutorials, but they've never made it on-line. To be quick, essentially, the options are filters. No options, means you get all games (default is current I-A teams) within the date range entered. If you click wins, only the games that the team won will appear in the results.
As for the duplicated options, team options are on the left (in other words results the team is showing for, and opponent options are on the right. If you want to filter out just opponents that are ranked, click the left box in the ranked options on the right side of the screen.
I clicked on box on the screen from the defaults (from the team record screen), the game ranked option for the opponents and I get the win/loss records of every team last year against ranked teams:
Refresh the screen, click that box again, and click the left box by "majors/non" on the right side, and you get the records against ranked teams of only the "major" teams.
Multiple options can be used to do whatever you want. The "View Team/Conf" or "VS Team/Conf" options controls how the options are grouped. The default is you will view it by team, however if you click the view conf box, you'll get the results by the conference the team was in. Click the current conference box as well and you get the results by the conference the team is currently in.
If you click the vs team option, you'll see it grouped by opponents team/conferences. This is handy if you're viewing by a specific team (ala selecting a team in the left 'Search for team' box). Say you select 'Air Force', enter '2000' in the front years and click the vs team option:
You get Air Force's record against every team from 2000 to 2009. Click a filter or two to alter the results (say just ranked teams).
It's structured such that those with the right kind of brain will get the pattern, but those who are more creative, might have more difficulty.
Best I can do on short notice.
